Problem configuring dual/triple monitors

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hello,
I am currently trying to get triple monitors to work using Xfree86 4.3.1 (I think).

I've installed mandrake 10 official and have had no success running more then one monitor.

This is my setup. I have 4 video cards, one on-board intel video card (Intel(R) 82865G Graphics Controller), the rest are all pci ATI Radeon 7000 (also seen as ATI Radeon VE DDR), all using the primary video input. I don't use the onboard video at all.

The video cards themselves are all detected. They ATI Radeon cards are using the following PCI address (PCI:1:0:0, PCI:1:1:0 and PCI:1:2:0). I have 3 monitors, all identical.

When i was configuring X in setup, If I chose to configure all the cards interdependly, X would freeze upon loading. If I chose to configure using Ximerama extension, X would freeze upon loading. If I chose to configure
one of the ATI Radeon cards at either PCI address PCI:1:1:0 or PCI:1:2:0 ( they don't go to my main monitor) X would freeze upon loading, however, if I just configured the main one (PCI:1:0:0) I had no problems getting into X.

I've been playing with the /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 configuration file trying to see the different responses it would have. One of my biggest obstactles is that whenever the x-server freezes, it does not show a log file as to why it freezes. /var/log/Xfree86.0.log is only written (in my case) whenever it either has a hard crash (ie, no screens found) or when it is successfully into X.

Attached is XF86Config-4.bak (config file which works with only one monitor) and XF86COnfig-4-9 (one of the config files I've been expermenting with). I would appreciate any help on this.

Thank you.

Tom
