RE: geode gx2

Hi,

I've tried the "nsc" driver. The setting 1024x768 24 bpp is ok.
When I tried the 1280x1024 24 bpp, X loaded successfully but the screen flickered. X exited successfully when I closed the X server.

I have several questions regarding the report from the log file?

1. (EE) NSC(0): Unable to reserve scanline area

What does this error indicate? How do I make sure that my monitor supports the configuration that I set with the X server?

2. (--) NSC(0): Virtual size is 1280x1024(pitch 2048)

Does this mean that the driver attempts to use the 2048x1536 resolution instead of the 1280x1024 resolution? The graphics controller cannot support 2048

3. (--) Depth 24 pixmap format is 32 bpp
   (**) NSC(0): Depth 24, (--)framebuffer bpp 32

How come the probed depth is different from the framebuffer depth?

Thanks,

Ina

You should really be using the 'nsc' driver.
