Hi *, Couldn't find anything helpful in Google. I used to run 4.3.0 with a Radeon 9200 card (pretendign I had the ChipId 0x514d) and decent performance. glxgears said something about 1500 fps. When I upgraded to 4.4.0 (same hardware, Linux kernel), I noticed that the desktop feels sluggish and glxgears comes up with a mere 500fps. DRM is enabled. $ glxinfo name of display: :0.0 display: :0 screen: 0 direct rendering: Yes [...] $ /sbin/lsmod [...] radeon 106720 1 agpgart 17268 1 (autoclean) [...] Switching back to 4.3.0 gives me the good old performance. The only things that looked funny to me in the 4.4.0 log file (compared to the 4.3.0 log file ) were many references to PCI rather than AGP: (II) RADEON(0): initializing int10 (II) RADEON(0): Primary V_BIOS segment is: 0xc000 (--) RADEON(0): Chipset: "ATI Radeon 9200 5961 (AGP)" (ChipID = 0x5961) (--) RADEON(0): Linear framebuffer at 0xc0000000 (--) RADEON(0): BIOS at 0xcf700000 (--) RADEON(0): VideoRAM: 65536 kByte (128 bit DDR SDRAM) (II) RADEON(0): PCI card detected [...] (II) RADEON(0): [pci] ring handle = 0xe4b55000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] Ring mapped at 0x44253000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] Ring contents 0x00000000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] ring read ptr handle = 0xe4c56000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] Ring read ptr mapped at 0x40016000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] Ring read ptr contents 0x00000000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] vertex/indirect buffers handle = 0xe4c57000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] Vertex/indirect buffers mapped at 0x44354000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] Vertex/indirect buffers contents 0x00000000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] GART texture map handle = 0xe4e57000 (II) RADEON(0): [pci] GART Texture map mapped at 0x44554000 (II) RADEON(0): [drm] register handle = 0xcf800000 (II) RADEON(0): [dri] Visual configs initialized (II) RADEON(0): CP in BM mode (II) RADEON(0): Using 8 MB GART aperture (II) RADEON(0): Using 1 MB for the ring buffer (II) RADEON(0): Using 2 MB for vertex/indirect buffers (II) RADEON(0): Using 5 MB for GART textures (II) RADEON(0): Memory manager initialized to (0,0) (1280,8191) (II) RADEON(0): Reserved area from (0,1024) to (1280,1026) (II) RADEON(0): Largest offscreen area available: 1280 x 7165 (II) RADEON(0): Will use back buffer at offset 0x1400000 (II) RADEON(0): Will use depth buffer at offset 0x1900000 (II) RADEON(0): Will use 34816 kb for textures at offset 0x1e00000 (II) RADEON(0): Using XFree86 Acceleration Architecture (XAA) Are the references to PCI correct? Shouldn't that be "agp" in most places? Any ideas how to fix that?
