I had a lot of problems with my i830M too. It uses the same drivers and modules. After a long time I found out, that the old kernelmodules from kernel 2.4.x where the reason. Now I use kernel 2.6.x and everything works fine. RedHat and SuSe are allways patching their kernels with code from the develop release so this could be why they worked. I don't know what Xandros does, but trying the new kernel could solve your problem too. -- Hope this helps.
