Rotate options in all drivers were broken by the RandR extension.
You need to disable RandR with:

Option "RandR" "0"

in the Section "ServerFlags"

Mark.

Thanks. I will try it today.

Then another question: is there any method to use xrandr to rotate screen. I've tried it with any grapchic adapter that was in my machine but it always says:
Possible rotations: normal.
So I was forced to try driver specific options and replace ATI by nVidia :(

BTW: vertical screen is great! It is very slow and it feels like you working over the serial link. But it so great at work so I do not think that I will need to switch back.
