Could be, I suppose. Or your card.

Perhaps try some slightly less "challenging" refresh rates
or resolutions:

  # 1600x1280 @ 75.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 100.20 kHz; pclk: 219.64 MHz
  Modeline "1600x1280_75.00" 219.64 1600 1720 1896 2192 1280 1281 1284 1336 -HSync +Vsync

  # 1600x1200 @ 75.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 93.97 kHz; pclk: 205.99 MHz
  Modeline "1600x1200_75.00" 205.99 1600 1720 1896 2192 1200 1201 1204 1253 -HSync +Vsync

  # 1536x1152 @ 75.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 90.22 kHz; pclk: 189.11 MHz
  Modeline "1536x1152_75.00" 189.11 1536 1648 1816 2096 1152 1153 1156 1203 -HSync +Vsync

  # 1440x1080 @ 75.00 Hz (GTF) hsync: 84.60 kHz; pclk: 165.14 MHz
  Modeline "1440x1080_75.00" 165.14 1440 1536 1696 1952 1080 1081 1084 1128 -HSync +Vsync

If some or all of those work, perhaps it's just that either
your monitor or your card don't actually live up to the
specified figures!
