First off, thanks David for your response. The missing libpng-devel-1.2.5-25.i586.rpm was the issue on the compile error. After resolving that the 'make World' completed without any errors. I did a 'make install' which transfered everything fine. I verify that the new X server is the one running. 'startx' bombed a few times with statements that fonts referanced in the XF86Config were missing and automaticaly removed them. Problem is that the new version of X still has the split screen issue. If it at all will help I can attach a picture of it but I don't want to waiste email space. Any other suggestions?
