Hello, I would like to have 2 terminals in my office, one on my desk facing me and one on another desk facing whoever comes into my office. I would like to have 2 completely seperate and independant sets of keyboard, monitor, and mouse, which preferably would each be running a seperate X server. My machine has a Matrox G450, which supports dual-video out. The first video output is plugged into the flat panel on my desk, and the second video output is plugged into a monitor on the other desk. I have a USB keyboard and USB mouse which I use on my desk, and a PS/2 keyboard and PS/2 mouse which are sitting on the other desk. My first problem is that even though I only have Mouse1 and Keyboard1 configured as input devices, all the keyboards and mice control the same display. If someone types a key on either keyboard or moves either mouse my desktop is affected. Here is my current XF86Config (dual display works, but in clone mode only): http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/jfaulkne/XF86Config Notice that I only have Mouse1 and Keyboard1 configured for Screen 0. How do I get XFree86 to ignore input from Mouse2 and Keyboard2 on Screen 0? My second problem is that I cannot get dual head working in any mode other than clone mode. This basically means that the output of the second video output is always identical to that of the first video output. Not very useful. When I configure Screen 1 as part of the default Layout (by just adding "Screen 1" to my "Desktop" layout, XFree86 crashes for no apparent reason: http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/jfaulkne/XFree86.0.log This happens with or without Matrox's mga and mga_hal driver. According to Matrox's documentation, the mga_hal driver isn't necessary for the G450, however. Any ideas on what's going wrong here? Also, when I try to start a seperate X server for "Screen 1" using "-layout Kiosk", XFree86 seems to be incapable of seeing the second video output without initializing the first: http://www.ccs.neu.edu/home/jfaulkne/XFree86.0.log.old Is that true or is it possible to use 2 X servers on a G450? thanks for any help, Jim Faulkner _______________________________________________ XFree86 mailing list XFree86@xxxxxxxxxxx http://XFree86.Org/mailman/listinfo/xfree86
