savage ix at 1280x1024 with external lcd monitor

Hi,

I have a toshiba satellite pro 4340 laptop wich has a savage IX graphics card 
and recently aquired a sony hs93 monitor (a 19" lcd). The monitor default 
frequency is 1280x1024, but when I run X every image (including characters 
and mouse cursor) have a grey shadow about 3 milimiters to the right of it. 
This is particulary visible in the vertical lines of the windows. I've been 
able to minimize the shadow (at the begining there were 3 shadows...) with 
xvidtune, but I can't seem to completely stop this problem. Tweaking the 
monitor buttons also doesn't help.
In 1024x768 mode this doesn't happen.

I have a partition with windows on it and there the same problem happens too. 
It is not because of the monitor since I've tried in another computer and it 
works fine at the same resolution. 
I don't know if this is happennig because of some hardware problem in the 
graphics board, but it works fine at other resolutions...

I've being trying some modelines too, but with no luck.

In the monitor manual it says:
Horizontal: 28-80kHz
Vertical:48-75Hz
Plug&Play:	DDC2B

and also says this which I don't know if is related to the problem, since I 
don't understand it:
Recommended horizontal and vertical timing condition:
	- Horizontal sync width duty should be more than 4.8% of total horizontal 
time or 0.8usec (microseconds), whichever is larger
	- Horizontal blanking width should be more than 2.5 usec.
	- Vertical blanking width should be more than 450 usec.

If anyone knows anything about this kind of problem, or how to build a 
modeline that incorportates the above monitor recommended settings, I would 
be very apreciated.
