Problem with color fonts under XFree86-4.3.0-2.90.43 rpm with NVIDIA drivers

Greetings,

I just upgraded a couple of workstations to Red Hat 9, using the
XFree86-4.3.0-2.90.43 rpms, and now color fonts don't appear on the
virtual terminals when I use the NVIDIA drivers installed via 'sh
./NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4496-pkg2.run'.  Before, when I installed the
NVIDIA drivers, everything worked just fine.  Now, after installing the
NVIDIA drivers, the color entries from an 'ls' command are displayed as
black on a black background.  The only reason I know about these entries
is that there are apparent gaps from a plain 'ls' listing.  If I move
the mouse over the black on black entries, I can see them one letter at
a time.
