[XFree86] alt+gr does not work within X; right alt, that is

Resending the message below, in the first version I erroneusly 
characterised the Alt Gr as Left Alt, should be Right Alt of course

Hi all

After installing Debian testing, I have the following problem: Right Alt
(i.e. Alt Gr) does not work, so I do not get the "at" sign, the vertical
line, the braces, etc. I join my XFree86Config-4 file.

Furthermore, I do not get the Scandinavian umlauted letters ä and ö in
the x-terminals, they do work within xemacs.

None of these problems occurs in a console outside of X.

This is puzzling, since I thought I had installed everything precisely
as I always have done.
