[XFree86] xkb and dead_doubleacute

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Greetings.

I'm having trouble using a keyboard layout which uses the dead_doubleacute
dead key. I sometimes need to write in Hungarian, which uses the characters
ő, Ő, ű, and Ű (o, O, u, and U with double acute accents, in case the
iso-8859-2 encoding doesn't make it through). However, in X, pressing the
dead_doubleacute key followed by o or O results in "o and "O (double quote
marks followed by an unadorned o/O), and the same followed by u/U results in
ü/Ü (u/U with diaeresis).

However, specifying a keymap which includes keys for odoubleacute,
Odoubleacute, udoubleacute, and Udoubleacute produces these four characters
correctly. It's just the doubleacute dead key which doesn't seem to work.

In short,

// Does not work correctly:
key <AB01> { [   semicolon, colon, dead_ogonek, dead_doubleacute ] };
// Works correctly:
key <LSGT> { [odoubleacute, Odoubleacute, udoubleacute, Udoubleacute] };

Is there some other file I need to modify or is this a genuine bug in xkb?

I am running XFree86 4.3.0.1-29 with KDE 3.1.4 on a fresh installation of SuSE
Linux 9.0. The problem also occured on my SuSE 8.1 installation.

Regards,
Tristan
