Hi Mark

Just to let you know I solved this problem by installing an old nvidia
driver.
It failed with nvidia drivers at release 4363 and 4496 but works fine with
4349.run
(NVIDIA-Linux-x86-1.0-4349.run)

"nv" is the driver for NVIDIA chips that ships with XFree86.
If you have XFree86, you already have a version of the "nv" driver.
However, before XFree86 4.3, the "nv" driver did not support
digital flat panels. If you have XFree86 4.3, just make sure you
have:

   Driver "nv"

in the Section "Device" in the XF86Config file.
