[XFree86] Dual Monitor Choppiness

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi everyone,
This is my first post to the list, so thank you in advance for any help. I'd appreciate it if you could leave my email address in the CC field b/c I'm not subscribed as of yet. I'm running XFree86 4.3.0 on RH9 and recently configured it to run on dual monitors. I added a second older video card (ie - 2 cards). The problem I ran into is that X is extremely choppy when I run with both video cards. By choppy I mean, the system freezes for 5 seconds if you move the mouse 5 inches or so across the screen. If I comment out the "Monitor" "Device" and "Screen" sections for either Monitor/Card setup, then the individual setup works fine. Here are the details behind the cards and drivers that X is using:
Initial Card:
Identifier "Card0"
Driver "tdfx"
VendorName "3Dfx Interactive, Inc."
BoardName "Voodoo 3"
BusID "PCI:1:0:0"
Recently Added Card (chronologically older)
Identifier "Card1"
Driver "ati"
VendorName "ATI"
BoardName "3D Rage I/II 215GT [Mach64 GT]"
ChipSet "ati"
ChipId 0x4754
ChipRev 0x41
BusID "PCI:0:13:0"
Both are running in a default display depth of 16 at a minimal resolution. Anyone know of any issues surrounding these drivers or cards that gives X problems? Or anyone know any solutions?
Thanks in advance,
Andy
ps - /var/log/XFree86.log hasn't shown anything descriptive
