Hi, I just installed redhat 9 (regular desktop mode) and I cant get X server to work. I am running on a custom built computer that includes an ATI Radeon 9500 Pro AGP card, Asus A7N8X Deluxe motherboard, a 80 gb hard drive (hdc), another 160 gb hard drive (hdd), sony dru-510a dvd/cd +/- r/rw (hda), and a lite-on cd-rw (hdb), and I am using an old NEC A700 monitor. I primarily use the first hard drive (hdc), I use its first partition for windows XP Pro and I used its last partition to install RH9 on. I've added a picture (17.1 kb) of my partitioning program to give you an idea of what my partitions look like. When I took a look at /var/log/Xfree86.0.log, these are the following errors that I received... (WW) RADEON: no matching device section for instance (BUSID PCI:3:0:1) found (EE) RADEON(0): no valid mode found for this DFP/LCD (EE) Screen(s) found, but none have a usable configuration Fatal Server Error: no screens found I would have added what my /etc/X11/XF86Config file says, but I dont know how to copy the file onto my floppy disk drive so that I can look at it through windows. I HAVE emacs'ed it successfully though. I have tried everything that I found online including XFree86 -configure XFree86 -config redhat-config-xfree86 redhat-config-xfree86 reconfig none of those have worked for me, what now?? If anybody has any ideas of what I should do next, please explain the process thoroughly because I dont know anything at all about linux. Thanks in advance
