Some info is needed: if the mode lines in your XF86Config (resp XF86Config-4) allow it you can
switch between resolutions by entering Ctrl+Alt+numeric pad + (higher resolution) or - )(lower
resolution).
If your problem is that you cannot get any resolution other than 320x200 then most likely your
graphic card is not recognised properly.
For any help one would need to know the hardware setup (mainly the graphic card) and your
XF86Config[-4]...
