Trying to configure X on OpenBSD 3.2

OK, I must be an idiot or something. I cannot get X to work without frying
my PC. I am running OpenBSD 3.2 -stable on a Dell Optiplex GX1 with an ATI
Rage Pro video card and a KDS VS 21e monitor.

I ran XFree86 -configure and got this
trident
chips
atm
fbdev
i128
ati
i810
ark
cyrix
siliconmotion
vesa
vga
(++) using config file at /root/XF86Config.new
to test the server run XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config.new

So I tested the server and then I get the following error:

_XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already running

Fatal Server Error
Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already
running

Here is my /var/log/XFree86.0.log:

(--) checkDevMem: using aperture driver /dev/xf86
(--) Using wscons driver in pcvt compatibility mode (version 3.32)
(WW) xf86AcquireGART: AGPIOC_ACQUIRE failed (Device busy)
(WW) GARTInit: AGPIOC_INFO failed (Device not configured)
_XSERVTransSocketUNIXCreateListener: ...SocketCreateListener() failed
_XSERVTransMakeAllCOTSServerListeners: server already running

Fatal server error:
Cannot establish any listening sockets - Make sure an X server isn't already
running

When reporting a problem related to a server crash, please send
the full server output, not just the last messages.
This can be found in the log file "/var/log/XFree86.0.log".
Please report problems to xfree86@xfree86.org.

I did not reconfigure anything in rc.conf.

Any pointers or help would be appreciated. My dmesg file is at the end of
this post

TIA
Greg Canter
