How can one upgrade XFree86 if he doesn't have a
fast a reliable internet connection? Does the upgrade exist in some form of
archive (tar, gzip, deb)?
I've recently downloaded XFree86 ver. 4.2. from a
ftp site and installed with the attached sh script it but it doesn't seem to
work. It's a graphic card issue (previous versions don't recognize it, the
NVidia drivers don't "want" to compile), which might be fixed by a XFree
upgrade.
Question no. 2: If a install XFree86 with the sh
script do I also have to run the make World command?
My system: Geforce4 MX 440 running on a Woody
customized kernel 2.4.18.
