Hi Guys
One week ago, I installed a PC with Debian Woody and almost everything
was fine. Since then, I've been trying to configure XFree 4.1.0. The
video is a SiS 6325 (yes, it is 632_5_ and not 632_6_). I know this
card is supported (or, at least, that it works), since some time ago
this machine had a Mandrake installed with X runnning properly.
Unfortunately, the X configuration file is no longer available.
In section "Device" of /etc/X11/XF86Config-4 the driver specified is
"sis". If no further information is supplied X is not able to
determine the correct chipset to use and gives up. I have tried every
possible supported chipset. The "best" is 632_6_. When I set the
chipset tag to "SIS6326" it seems to work, but the monitor goes to
suspend mode. I checked twice the frequencies and I am sure this is
not an out-of-range frequency problem.
I have tried all possible options for the sis driver, like NoAccel,
sw_cursor, PciRetry, etc.
