XFree86 will not start

Greetings,

I am new to XFree86 and I would like to thank in advance for providing the mailing list.

I am having a problem starting XFree86. I run XFree86 -configure then after about 20 seconds it displays:

Your XF86Config file is /root/XF86config.new

To test the server, run 'XFree86 -xf86config /root/XF86Config.new'

When i run the command it brings up the "x" (mouse pointer) and screen but just sits there i end up hitting ctrl-alt-backspace to end it.

I am running OpenBSD3.1 with XFree86 ver 4.2.0

I have also trid running the Xinstall.sh file with the update to see if that would help and it tells me I need "extract" or extract.exe. I cannot find any reference to this file.

any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Brian
