That does not help, either.  I put it in becouse it wasn't working in the 
first place.

Is there an option to tell X to use a middle button extension?

Please, I'm getting desperate, there will soon be teeth mark in my
keyboard :) and I'm seriously considering downgrading to X 3.x.x and see
if that works.
