Hi Lionel,

Thanks for responding.

I _can_ log in at the console. I guess I didn't make that clear. Once 
I get to the blank screen, I hit ctrl-alt-backspace to get to VT 1. 
 From there, I can use the console at will. I just would like to be 
able to use X.
