Since NVidea provides closed src drivers which are said to be pretty stable,
I'd recommend a GF4Ti4200 (which can be overclocked to values of a 4400 or
even 4600 with appropriate cooling). I hate to say that because I don't like
NVidea for their pricing and 2D/TV signal quality but if you want a well
supported card in Linux, you currently can't chose.
