Shane - thanks for your help, but.......      I tried again with
Xconfigurator, I've tried CTX1451 (my monitor) and also Custom 800x600 56Hz
(no option for 800x600 60Hz).  Screen still not right - its almost there, I
can see some of the icons etc., but something is not quite right.  Also I
get the error msg "No valid MMIO address in PCI config space" when returning
to the prompt.

Any help much appreciated..........
