Thanks, but still no luck. X was already linked to XF86_S3V but just to be sure, I renamed it and created a new one, linking X to XF86_S3V as you described. After doing this, I run X and it still reads from XF86Config-4. If I rename this file to XF86Config-4-old, X does not start, presumably because it cannot find the config file. All said, it is not reading from the XF86Config file that is created when I run XConfigurator. Any help greatly appreciated.
