Horizontal streaking at 800X600

Hi all -

I'm running RH 6.1 w/ XFree86 3.3.* (not at system right now)

At 800X600 resolution I have started getting horizontal
streaking/jittering. All other resolutions it is OK, but on a
14" monitor, the fonts are too small to read at higher res.
Of course, now they're not too readable at 800X600, either...

I'm guessing the monitor is freaking out over an odd
horizontal sync frequency. Unfortunately, it's an anonymous
monitor - even the FCC # didn't let me ID it.

I think I found the correct XConfig files. I'm just trying to
decipher it. Which item in the resolution line shows the
horizontal sync frequency? If I get a chance, I'll try to
copy the file tonight and post it.

As I understand it, sometimes RH places the XConfig files
in odd spots, so any hints on where it may be would be greatly
appreciated also.
