slow video response

I've been running XFree86, version 4.2, using the OroborOSX (v 0.8)
window manager, on a beige G3 Mac (Rev. B or greater). When using xterm
to connect to a remote machine, I've noticed that contour plots take
forever (about one minute) to plot. When I use my Exodus terminal
emulator in Classic mode, however, the contour plots are plotted in a
few seconds. I'm running system OS X, version 10.1.5, and have a PCI
ATI mach 64_3DUPro video card, which supposedly is supported by the ver.
4.2 driver of XFree86.

Do I need to do something to the XF86Config file to get graphics
acceleration to work on my machine? I've looked in all the correct
places, but cannot find this file.
