I'm having a bear of a time configuring my new SyncMaster 240T. I am running Debian woody with an Nvidia Quadro2 Pro graphics card. When I run under Win XP, it works fine, so I know this isn't a hardware incompatibility. The problem is that I have black bars on the left and right of my screen. Even Xvidtune can't manage it. Nor could the modeline calculator I found at http://xtiming.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/xtiming.pl. The screen is 1920 by 1200 (i.e. whopping big) with a strange ratio of 16:10. It has a max pixel clock of 350 MHz. Harry ten Berge, from the Netherlands was very kind in sending me his Suse info. Here is what he sent: Samsung:SYNCMASTER 240T { DDC=SAM4254 Hsync=30-93 Vsync=56-85 } Modeline "1920x1200" 254.59 1920 1956 2404 2740 1200 1308 1324 1373 That modeline didn't work for me. How do I use the DDC info in XF86Config-4 ? I tweaked the modeline as much as I could with xvidtune. Here is what I have in my XF86Config-4 file: Section "Monitor" Identifier "Generic Monitor" HorizSync 30-93 VertRefresh 56-85 Option "DPMS" Modeline "1920x1200@60" 210.68 1920 2000 2752 2784 1200 1224 1236 1261 EndSection Section "Screen" Identifier "Default Screen" Device "Generic Video Card" Monitor "Generic Monitor" DefaultDepth 24 SubSection "Display" Depth 1 Modes "1920x1200" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 4 Modes "1920x1200" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 8 Modes "1920x1200" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 15 Modes "1920x1200" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 16 Modes "1920x1200" EndSubSection SubSection "Display" Depth 24 Modes "1920x1200@60" EndSubSection EndSection Thank you very much for your help, Carlo -- Dr. Carlo C.
