[Newbie]cannot change virtual screensize: XF86Config "Virtual" line ignored

I was not speaking of the "modeline" you find in the monitor section, X can find out what is valid
by itself (usually:^) -i.e. you can usually remove or comment out all "modeline" lines there- but
from the "modes" line in the display subsection of the screen section. There, it suffices to
specify what you want in the subsection which has the depth given in the "DefaultDepth" line of
the screen section...
