That's a Linuxism, probably a RedHatism.  OpenBSD has no /etc/init.d
directory, nor a gpm that has anything to do with a mouse.

Unfortunately, I've never actually touched OpenBSD, but I expect it's a
lot closer to FreeBSD and NetBSD.  First, you need to determine whether
the system is providing some kind of mouse driver, or if the only mouse
driver is XFree86.  If you switch to a text terminal and move the mouse,
click the buttons, does anything happen?  What does the dmesg command
have to say about a mouse?  The answer to this will tell you whether you
should ask on an OpenBSD forum, or here.

As for the colors, you can probably fix that by adding "DefaultDepth 24"
to the "Screen" section of /etc/X11/XF86Config.  "man XF86Config".
