[Newbie]Radeon 7000 + Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I have installed Suse Linux professional 7.3 onto my
machine. The specs are:

AMD k6-2 400
256MB SDRAM PC-100
Soyo SY-5EMA+ motherboard
Radeon 7000 32MB DDR AGP (Powercolor Evil Wizard) video card

(sorry for the long e-mail)
My problem is that 3D acceleration does not seem to work. Using Sax2
I would enable 3D acceleration and then go through with the rest of the
configuration, loading 3D modules glx, dri, fgl1, fgl23 (doesn't make
a difference whether I load the last three or not).
Then, running glxgears I get the following errors
Xlib: extension "GLX" missing on display ":0.0".
Error: couldn't get an RGB, Double-buffered visual

If I run 3Ddiag it doesn't find a 3D capable card and also get the following

  GLU ... done (package xf86glu)
  glut ... done (package mesaglut)

now if I do a 3Ddiag --dri I get,

3Ddiag version 0.369
Verifying DRI/XFree86 4.x configuration

if I run gears I get

running glxinfo gets me

any ideas what is wrong? Mesa software rendering works but is extremely
slow.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you in advance,
Hubert Yoshizaki
