Ok, thanks - will look at that documentation page, and, FWIW, I'm working with XAMPP 1.7.4, or thereabouts, which then includes/allows you to turn on xdebug 2.1.0.4, and main thing is while now see it's offerring better/more detailed error handling information on pages, the remote debugging is what think might help more. I'm using XAMPP 1.8.2 which comes with Xdebug 2.2.3 and that works fine.
