I know that there was some guy recently, about a month ago or so, that posted a message here about some problems with isapi, and he could "solve" the problem by configure php to run as an CGI app - just as mentioned in the google reference you gave. But he also stated - as in your references - that running phg as CGI did create a performce hit for his application. I've configured php as a CGI application on win2003 server with IIS6.0, and in my ingorance about this matter I don't see any direct performace problem with my apps, but this might be due to that most execution time (>95%) is spend in the RDBMS it self.
