Seeking help with Money 2000: access to internet

I am fairly new to Linux and have set up a laptop with the default installation of Ubuntu 10.10. I have installed Wine 1.2.2 and have used it to install some old Windows programs that I don't want to be without. Generally they work fine and I am very pleased.

However I have one problem with Money 2000: it crashes when I ask it to connect to the internet in order to update the prices of stocks and shares. This is recorded as a known 'bug' on the Wine AppDB. I have read the bug report but I cannot understand it since I don't have a technical background.

My simple question is, is it possible to get Money 2000 to access the internet? Has anyone managed it? I see from the notes on Money 2004 (in the AppDB) that someone has managed to get that version working, but they way they installed it seems very complex and I don't fully understand it.

Any help you can give will be appreciated!

Thanks in advance
John
