Which version of the Catalyst drivers are you using?
i686 could be 32 OR 64 bit.  Most distributions use the annotation
AMD-64 or x86-64 to denote 64 bit versions of them.  Some use i386 for
32 bit and i686 for 64 bit Intel releases.  Yes, this is confusing
when you work with several distributions, of which some use i686 to
annotate a 32 bit version designed to run on a 64 bit platform and
x86-64 for a 64 bit version.
