Is that specific enough? your probably using an old (or Apple version) of X11.. and its trying to adjust the screen resolution and it cannot. Either go in winecfg and set it to a virtual desktop and always play in a window... or try using Xquartz 2.6.0, and going into winecfg and disabling letting the window manager decorate or control windows... and see if fullscreen and resolution switching work ok. (RandR support for resolution changing and stuff is brand new in Xquartz 2.6.0)
