I am using Ubuntu 10.10 and I have installed wine 1.3.9 in order to run windows software called AAF revovery tool for reprogramming a satellite receiver with software of a different supplier. The installation seems to run smoothly but after completion the tool does not start up. I also installed Expert Debugger and Mono 2.6.7 for windows. I can't start up these programs either. Just for testing purposes I installed a windows driver update program called uniblue. The same pain in the neck. If I click the wine uninstall button a window warns me: The program uninstaller.exe has encountered a serious problem. The programs having an uninstaller of their own display the same problem. The only installed program working properly is windows scratch bloc or whatever this is named in English. Anybody willing to initiate me in the secrets of wine?
