In sc2 and mafia 2, maybe others, there is a CPU bottle neck.  These games run well (for wine) on c2d with midrange graphics cards.  The problem is when you scale the graphics card you get no improvement.  

The perfect case to run a performance profile against would be a c2d with a 460.  How ever it has been months now and no one is willing, with that configuration, to spend the time doing it.  The problem still exists with newer CPUs and it's more likely that configuration exists with some one willing to spend the time.
