I have tried that purge thing and when I go to Applications it is still there.
Open a terminal window:
Type in:
rm -rf $HOME/.wine
then type in to test if wine is working:
wine notepad
If you are re-installing a program or want to run winetricks:
{for program}
cd path-to-installer
wine installer-program-name
substitute the path-to-installer with the UNIX/Linux path to the
installation program and installer-program-name with the name (usually
setup.exe) of the installation program
[for winetricks]
Follow the use instructions in the Wine FAQ (http://wiki.winehq.org/FAQ
item 7.5) to use winetricks.
