It just can't open it in the installer. the file being found, or ran doesn't have anything to do with what the working folder is... many progrmas will launch and sort of seem to work even though they don't fully work, all because of what folder you are in when you start the program.... its why I asked if you did like... cd /the/path/to/theinstall wine gamename.exe or if you did wine /the/path/to/theinstall/gamename.exe the second way in some program can lead to that program not being able to find files its looking for.
