> TBH, I decided not to file a bug. Developers seemed hell-bent on delivering a defective stable version of WINE so I just decided to let them. I've compiled and run all of the 1.2 RCs on CentOS (OSS, Alsa), Fedora (PulseAudio) and Mac OS X (Core Audio) and have experienced sound dropouts exactly never. This is not a problem endemic to Wine as you're attesting to. If you can't be bothered to file a bug report, don't expect anyone to bother fixing - or to even consider - your bug. While I'm not a developer, I can say without a doubt that no one is hell-bent on delivering sub-standard/defective releases. The burden of proof that this is a Wine bug and not a problem with a certain subset of misconfigured or otherwise broken systems lies with you. If you're so convinced that it's a huge bug that nobody is bothering with, file a bug report. Otherwise drop it.
