It's simply that pixel graphics(on the desktop) flash through the game's rendered images. Minimizing windows and junk helps, but running the emulated desktop does just as well, but it uses more memory, which I currently don't have. The game works fine enough, but there's missing graphics. In game windows are empty and translucent; if they aren't, pixels (like items/equips) don't show up in their specific boxes (mouse-over hell). Fonts are still glitchy. How do I tell if I have direct 3D acceleration? And as for ATI cards, mine is pretty stable and I never had that many problems with it in windows. I can say that it sucks at rendering pixels sometimes. Could this be due to a lack of glide(or whatever apropriate term I should use)?
