that info really helped but the games are really slow. how do i fix this?

That depends on what games you are playing. Some games are slower in Linux, some you can make changes to your system to help it run them better, some run faster (better FPS) than in Windows.

Go to this site:
http://appdb.winehq.org/

and don't get frustrated. :) It can be confusing to navigate and figure out how to read and use the information at first, but it is worth the time. Do a search for the game you want to play, read through the information there and you will probably find things that are helpful. If you try what it says to do for your game and are still having trouble, post back to the list and someone may have ideas to help you.

When you post be sure to include:

-what distribution of linux you are using (Ubuntu, Fedora, CentOS, etc.)
-if you are using the 64 or the 32 bit version of the distribution
-what video card type you have and what driver version you are using
-what version of wine you are using
-the name of the game or program you are trying to make work
-a description of the problem and/or any error messages you are getting

that will give people a good starting point to try and find the problem.
