If you had it on XP then there must have been a serious problem on windows but this isn't a Steam glitch its a Wine glitch. If you use 1.1.24 or 1.1.27 its not there though it will come back sooner or later. I don't know why it does it but it does not affect the game play so its not serious issue just learn to play with it till someone fixes it.
