A wild stab in the dark would be to run Terminal and: $ wine winecfg Then, within the dialogue box that appears you can select a different Windows version for all applications to install to. I hope this helps, if not then if you could explain more about exactly how you compiled wine, and exactly how you tried to install the application I could try to think of anything else that could problems.
