I'm not really an expert in this, but a quick google of x3100 tells me it is a low end graphics chip that has problems with games even in Windows. So I think that's probably your problem, particularly since you say that Linux games are affected as well. One thing you should try is turning off desktop effects. They are known to conflict with Wine.
