Even running as root wine cannot reboot a computer. Computer rebooting is a sign of a driver or X11 problem somewhere. glxgears really not a test. Wine is any feature defect in the X11 or opengl wine normally finds it. FC9 does have a lot of prototype patches in its kernel and it X11 server. So running wine on it is really russian rollete.
