The printer queue "xerox" works without any problem in linux. It sounds like perhaps something is messed up in the registry. I would suggest temporarily moving your current ~/.wine and letting Wine create a new one. Then run Wine's notepad and try printing from it. Does that work? mv .wine .wine.tmp notepad & If that works, check the newly created registry entries, and copy them into your old registry, assuming you are going to restore your old ~/.wine.
