I use firefox all the time inside wine, The winecfg utility alows you to set your paths ...be careful with this however. I do this daily however NOT with pure wine but crossover and publishing software that needs a browser to function correctly for preview functions. I have installed Firefox 1.5 in pure wine and it works here also. You may need scripting OLE Mozilla's active x susbstitute etc to get full functionality. FWIW I have also used it with Java 5 and Realplayer 10 flash and shockwave. Pushing it that far seems to create zombie wine processes and these need to be killed periodically if your computers run 24/7. Just a thought...if you need that much windows functionality ...full suite...browser etc. You might seriously look at getting Crossover Standard. This would also allow you ie6,,,,but firefox is much better and smoother running. Crossover also lets you isolate different "bottles" so you can try new software without destroying what you also have working...They are also a big contributor to WINE.
