You can't use "ln" that way. That's what you see when you do "ls -l" on a symlink, not how you make one. In the line you typed, the last part "> /mnt/cdrom" is trying to write whatever the output of the command was to /mnt/cdrom, and of course that doesn't work. What you need to do is ln -s /mnt/cdrom "~/.wine/dosdevices/d:" It's also true that you will do better with a more recent version of wine, but that's not the problem here.
